An inflatable paddle board isn’t much use without a good pump. All Starboard Astro inflatable SUPs come with the V8 dual action pump. In this video, we go over how to care for and service your pump to ensure it is in prime working condition so you can hit the water without any delay.
It is important to regularly maintain the pressure in your Starboard double action pump. One way of doing this is by replacing the o-ring. Start by simply unscrewing anti-clockwise the top piece of the pump to remove it from the pump chamber. It is useful to wear a pair of gloves when do this process as you will need to put grease on the new o-ring.
Lift the pump out of the pump chamber. Remove the o-ring from the pump plunger by sliding it off with your fingers. If you need to, you can use a screw driver but be careful not to pierce the o-ring.Â
Add a small amount of grease to the new o-ring which will act as a sealant and a lubricant. Replace the new o-ring on to the pump plunger and add a small amount of grease inside the pump chamber.
Insert the pump back into the pump chamber. Screw in a clockwise direction the top piece back onto the pump chamber, until tight.
Once secure, test the new o-ring by pushing down on the pump to feel the pressure. Once having changed the o-ring, the pump will be up to optimum pressure. Now it’s time to use your pump and get on the water.
That’s it, piece of cake! Let’s have a look see at some of the Starboard inflatable SUPs we have in stock:
