Adjusting your Red Paddle Co 3 piece SUP paddle

In this video we go over how to assemble your new Red Paddle Co 3 piece travel paddle. We show you how to connect all the shaft pieces together. We then move on to showing you how to adjust your paddle to the right length. Now, the right length depends on your size and paddling style but most adjustable paddles will fit adults for any style of SUPing they’ll be doing. See our article on the right SUP paddle length for you.

Finally we move on to taking apart or disassembling your 3 piece paddle. You can leave the adjustable handle part in the main shaft or you can remove it to break it down into the smallest pieces for your travel bag.

How to set up your 3 piece SUP paddle

Assembling your 3 piece adjustable SUP paddle

  • Open the adjustable clip with both thumbs
  • Using both thumbs makes it easy to pop the clip open
  • Slide in handle section to desired length
  • Align pins to holes in shaft and pop clip closed
  • If applicable, open the main shaft clamp
  • Use thumb to depress pin and insert blade shaft into main shaft
  • Twist shaft until pin pops into place
  • It only aligns one direction, there is no change to get this wrong.
  • Close clamp
  • Clamp and pin system provide a flex and movement free shaft join

Adjusting your SUP paddle

  • Adjust the paddle by opening clip with thumbs
  • Pop open clip and slide shaft in or out to new length
  • Close clip
  • Push clip closed after you’ve aligned pin holes at new shaft length

Disassembling your 3 piece adjustable SUP paddle

  • Open main shaft clamp
  • Depress pin with thumb again and pull/twist blade shaft out
  • Close clamp
  • You can leave the paddle like this if it fits in your bag
  • Remove handle shaft by opening clip with thumbs
  • Now you have your 3 piece paddle broken down into the smallest sections
