Quick Look: Starboard Enduro Carbon 3 Piece SUP Paddle

After upgrading my Carbon Nylon paddle, and then immediately passing it down to my son as he grows, I’ve also chosen a new paddle for myself.

My preferred paddles for wave riding and touring are fixed length Prepreg Carbon paddles from Starboard. They are about as good quality and light as you can get. However, I don’t always need the very best, especially when I’m just exploring and paddling with my kids. So, of all the paddles we carry, I have chosen the Starboard Enduro Carbon as my go to 3 piece paddle. It’s light weight, a great shape, and it’s great value.

For when I’m paddling in local areas (in front of the house), I usually take the one piece Carbon Enduro Prepreg, but, for on the go, whether it’s by car, plane, bike or foot, the 3 piece Enduro Carbon is my choice. It’s about 80% of the way to a Prepreg model, but about half the price. Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

The reason I like this paddle is simple. It’s the same shape as the top end Prepreg, features a shaft adjustment system that is the best on the market for ease of use and its streamlined shape, and the lower shaft join cut on an angle means there is zero play. I mean, ZERO play. It’s incredible how tightly the join holds the shaft, but still allows them to easily slip together.

If you’re in the market for an excellent value and quality paddle, this one should be at the top of your list.
