Getting Started

Sam starts us off with the basics of how to stand up paddle board. Going through the gear, a few key terms and launching into the water. He also covers a couple of handy tips for getting about if you have trouble standing or if the wind/waves pick up.

Kneeling

In this video, Sam shows us how the kneel and paddle on the board. Kneeling is a great way to paddle away from or into the beach, in rough waters, around others or if you’re still finding your balance! He also covers turning how to turn the board quickly with the paddle.

Standing Up

Here it is, the one we’ve been waiting for. Sam shows us how to hold the paddle correctly, stand up on the board and working towards taking our first strokes.

Basic Paddling

Now that we’re up, we need to go somewhere. Sam shows us how to paddle with good technique and efficiency.

In this video, Sam runs through the finer points of the stroke so that you can paddle further and faster with less effort.
