Stand up paddle boarding the Mississippi River

Darrell Kirk is at it again. We first featured his Great Salt Lake, Utah, video and commented about how awesome it is to paddle board and why we love it so much. In this video, he paddles from Alton, Illinois, to the St.Louis Gateway Arch, about 22 miles. He paddles through the locks, escapes the “Oil can” of death, meets a few friendly fishermen with some monster tales, marvels at technology, survives some eddies, and cruises to the Arch.

If you’re not stoked to get out there and stand up paddle and explore new places after watching this video, you had better check your pulse!

Darrell chooses to ride the Red Paddle Co 12’6″ Race. See more from Darrell at his website: https://standuppaddletheworld.com

I have been an avid stand up paddle boarder since 2009. I retired from a decade of professional kiteboarding to focus on SUP. Green Water Sports grew from this love of all things SUP. As well as being a keen paddle boarder, I'm a football fan, closet petrol head, web tinkerer, husband and father.
