2020 red paddle co racing paddle boards - 2020 range of inflatable race SUP paddle board

We all have those days when s#!t happens, and usually for the silliest of reasons. Anyway, we’re here to help. If you’ve got a puncture or small rip in your paddle board, this video by Starboard will explain how to repair your inflatable paddle board puncture.

Items you will need:

  1. Hair Dryer
  2. Glue and PVC patches from the repair kit
  3. Tape
  4. Brush or spatula
  5. Acetone
  6. A cloth
  7. Gloves and mask

Follow these easy steps to repair your inflatable SUP:

  1. Clean the area around the puncture with acetone
  2. Dry the area carefully afterwards
  3. Cut patch to approximate size to use for preparing the punture
  4. Place the patch over the puncture
  5. Draw the outline of the patch using a pencil
  6. Apply tape to the outline of the puncture
  7. Apply glue on both board and patch
  8. Using the brush or spatula, make sure the glue is spread evenly
  9. Leave the glue to dry for 5 – 10 minutes
  10. If the glue doesn’t stick to your glove it means it’s ready to bond
  11. Place the patch on top of the puncture area
  12. Use the hairdryer to gently heat the area to ensure the best bonding
  13. Use the spatula to firmly press the patch removing any air bubbles that maybe there – this ensures a strong bond
  14. It is recommended to put some extra weight on top of it
  15. Remove the tape
  16. Allow 24 hours for the glue to dry and bond properly before inflating again

That’s it. Easy peasy, lemon squeezy. See you on the water!
